Il Palagio di Panzano Le Bambole Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG

Great taste in exclusive quantities

Le Bambole Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG is a project close to the heart of Monia Piccini and her husband Franco for a number of reasons. With the 2011 vintage, this wine has found its way into the Il Palagio di Panzano range. The Sangiovese grapes for this wine come from a single south-facing vineyard in the middle of the Conca d'Oro in Panzano. Monia and Franco have named this top vineyard "Vigna delle Bambole" in reference to their two daughters Giorgia and Gianna, their two "Bambole". Carefully harvested by hand, the grapes are first placed in steel tanks for 21 days, then in 500-liter French oak barrels for 12 months and finally in 1,000-liter oak barrels for a further 18 months. The wine completes its maturation in the bottle for a further six months - although it can easily withstand another 25 years in the bottle. The result: a ruby red wine with a slight garnet hue, reminiscent of ripe red fruit on the nose and powerful and powerful on the palate - but with velvety, well-bonded tannins and a long finish. Tip: It is best to stock up right away, as only 1,000 to 3,000 bottles are bottled each year.

Typical Tuscany: Azienda Agricola Il Palagio di Panzano

Monia Piccini took over the Il Palagio di Panzano winery, which is located in the middle of the Chianti Classico, halfway between Florence and Siena, from her father more than a decade ago. Monia and her husband Franco are what you would call true Panzanesi - because this is their work and their home. This is where they were born and grew up. And real Panzanesi have 100% Panzano and Chianti Classico in their blood. The basis for the young couple's outstanding wines is laid on around eight hectares of vineyards in the top locations in the famous Conca d'Oro, in the golden valley: This special geographical location provides a warm, sun-drenched climate during the day and a cooler climate at night. The Sangiovese vines, the leading variety of Il Palagio di Panzano, like this - the international Merlot grape variety can only be found very rarely in their vineyards.

Outstanding red wines from the Chianti Classico - with organic certification

Il Palagio di Panzano's range includes five different red wines - all typical of Tuscany, yet different in character and expression: from the quaffable Chianti Classico and the noble Chianti Classico Riserva to the excellent Chianti Classico Gran Selezione called "Le Bambole" and the simple Ignobile, the fruity Rosato and the elegant Torgentile. With the exception of the Torgentile, all the red wines are made exclusively from the indigenous Sangiovese grape variety. Only the Torgentile is a cuvée in which the proportion of Merlot is higher than the proportion of Sangiovese grapes. Based on the conviction that the future of viticulture can only work with a sustainable approach to nature, the vineyards were converted to sustainable cultivation in 2007. This was followed by official organic certification in 2013. It is not for nothing that little Panzano is celebrated by the international wine press as the organic district of Italy!

Vacations with a family connection at Agriturismo Il Palagio di Panzano

The "Azienda Agricola Il Palagio di Panzano" is a real family business: Monia Piccini, who took over the winery from her family, now runs the winery and agriturismo together with her husband Franco. Guests from all over the world come here to spend their vacation "with a family connection" in one of the enchanting rooms or apartments. With its many nooks and crannies, hidden squares and courtyards, picturesque terraces and enchanted garden, the house is actually a small fairytale castle. And who knows, you might even meet the two princesses Giorgia and Gianna - the daughters of the house. The swimming pool alone, with its fabulous view over the Conca d'Oro, will make you fall in love with Il Palagio di Panzano straight away. And when the scent of jasmine mixed with a hint of lemon, lavender and rosemary wafts past your nose, you will succumb to the charm of Il Palagio forever and ever.
