Cold-pressed delight for lovers of Tuscany

In addition to the autochthonous Sangiovese grape variety and the international Merlot grape variety, Il Palagio di Panzano has around 1,200 olive trees - including the Frantoio, Moraiolo, Morcaio and Leccino varieties - on an area of almost three hectares. Like the grapes, the olives are carefully harvested by hand, usually between the end of October and the beginning of November. Within 36 hours, the olives reach the local oil mill, where they are cold-pressed under pressure. Centrifugal separation produces pure, high-quality extra virgin olive oil. The olive oil is first stored at a constant temperature in small stainless steel tanks. The oil is only bottled when required - around 1,400 liters of the spicy, fruity extra virgin olive oil are produced at Il Palagio di Panzano every year. An absolute must for all lovers of Tuscany and its cuisine!

Il Palagio di Panzano: a real insider tip for wine connoisseurs in Chianti Classico

The S 222, the Chiantigiana, connects Florence, the capital of Tuscany, with Siena and leads through the oldest wine-growing region in the world: the Chianti Classico. The small town of Panzano lies exactly in the middle of this route. Coming from Florence, you drive up the hill in Panzano and reach the Piazza, the highest point of the village. And where it goes downhill again, Monia Piccini, the owner of the Il Palagio di Panzano winery, sells her red wines directly. The guests take a seat at the large tasting table, where Monia offers her Chianti Classico, the Chianti Classico Riserva and Le Bambole, the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, for tasting. The fruity-fresh Rosato, the fruity-young Ignobile and the Merlot-Sangiovese-Cuvée Torgentile are also waiting to be enjoyed and purchased. The Conca d'Oro: the best conditions for the best Sangiovese grapes

Incidentally, from the tasting room you have a wonderful view over the Conca d'Oro, the golden valley where the outstanding vineyards of Il Palagio di Panzano are located. Excellent because the special geographical position in the shell-shaped valley ensures a warm climate during the day and cooling at night. Ideal for the autochthonous Sangiovese vines, the leading variety of Il Palagio di Panzano. The international Merlot grape variety is rarely found in the vineyards of Monia and Franco Piccini. The Piccini couple cultivate around eight hectares of vines - and have been doing so organically since the 2007 vintage. Since the 2013 vintage, the winery and, of course, the olive trees have been officially certified organic. It is no coincidence that the village of Panzano has been known as "Italy's organic district" for several years now. This is because almost all members of the "Unione di Viticolori di Panzano" are committed to the sustainable and organic cultivation of their vineyards.
