The purple with ripening potential

For Monia Piccini and her husband Franco, one thing is clear: only genuine manual labor and careful selection in the vineyard can produce a wine that meets their high standards. Since the 2012 vintage, they have used exclusively Sangiovese grapes for their Chianti Classico Riserva – with complete conviction and a great deal of sensitivity.

After hand-picking and sorting, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks for 21 days. The wine is then allowed to age for a full two years in rare, large 1,000-liter oak barrels. And as if that weren't enough patience, it spends at least another six months in the bottle. The result? A powerful, elegant Chianti Classico Riserva with delicate fruit aromas of plums and dark berries, combined with a subtle, harmonious oak note.

In the glass, the Chianti Classico Riserva presents a clear, intense purple-red color – with a hint of garnet, sometimes almost inky black. On the palate, you'll find a structure with depth: juicy, fresh, balanced, and with a long, lingering finish. Only 3,000 to 5,000 bottles are produced per vintage – so it's best to stock up on a few bottles now. This wine is a true long-distance runner with aging potential for 20 years or more.

Il Palagio di Panzano – a Tuscan winery with heart and history

Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, very close to Greve, Florence, and Siena, lies the Azienda Agricola Il Palagio di Panzano winery. A place steeped in history – and with people who know what they're doing. Monia inherited the estate from her father and, together with Franco, runs it with great passion. Both are native Panzano winemakers – they live and breathe the region.

The approximately eight hectares of vineyards are located in the famous Conca d'Oro – the "Golden Valley" of Panzano. Here, conditions are perfect for high-quality Sangiovese grapes: hot days, cool nights, and plenty of sunshine. Merlot was also once grown here – today, Il Palagio relies exclusively on Sangiovese. And you can taste it! Not only wine, but also a wonderfully aromatic olive oil comes from the approximately 1,200 olive trees surrounding the winery.

100% organic, 100% Panzano

Il Palagio is part of Italy's first organic wine district. The winegrowers in and around Panzano joined forces more than 20 years ago to form the "Unione di Viticoltori di Panzano" – with a clear goal: sustainable cultivation and top-quality wines in harmony with nature. Since the 2013 vintage, the Monia and Franco vineyards have also been officially certified organic.

The winery has always focused on quality over quantity, producing some of the region's finest wines: the fruity Chianti Classico , the powerful Chianti Classico Riserva, the noble Chianti Classico Gran Selezione "Le Bambole," and the Rosato "Aldemara," which delights with its freshness. The former "Ignobile" and " Torgentile " cuvées are no longer produced today—the focus is clearly on Sangiovese and pure quality.
