The uncomplicated "non-noble" from Panzano

Ignobile means something like "not noble" - but this is clearly an understatement if you know Ignobile. Monia Piccini and her husband Franco, the two owners of Il Palagio di Panzano, are responsible for this uncomplicated, easily accessible red wine, which is made from one hundred percent Sangiovese grapes. The grapes come from the San Martino vineyard, which lies in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region. Up to 10,000 bottles of this typical red wine from Tuscany are produced each year. It is fresh and fruity in the glass, with the expressive aroma typical of Sangiovese. This "non-noble" wine is best enjoyed simply and well chilled on a summer barbecue evening with friends. An uncomplicated wine for uncomplicated evenings.

The Conca d'Oro: Special locations for special wines

Panzano in Chianti, which lies exactly between Florence and Siena in the Chianti Classico wine region of Tuscany, is home to numerous top wine producers. Panzano is considered the "organic wine region" par excellence: almost all of the businesses here work sustainably or are certified organic. The vineyards on Il Palagio di Panzano have also been cultivated organically since 2007 and have been officially certified organic since the 2013 vintage. The vineyards extend over the famous Conca d'Oro, the golden valley, and the San Martino vineyard, the cooler part. Here, in this unique spot in Tuscany, in the middle of one of the oldest appellations in the world, the sun shines all day on the Sangiovese and Merlot grapes of Il Palagio di Panzano. Monia and Franco Piccini's wines can be tasted and purchased not only directly at the winery, but also in the center of Panzano in the small but fine shop. The entire range can be purchased: the Chianti Classico, the Chianti Classico Riserva and the top wine Le Bambole, which is the Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, as well as the simple Ignobile and the elegant Torgentile. With the exception of the Torgentile, which is made from 60% Merlot and 40% Sangiovese grapes, all three Chianti Classico wines and the Ignobile have been made entirely from the indigenous Sangiovese grape variety since the 2014 vintage - and have been certified organic since 2013! And you can taste this love and care in every single glass of red wine!

In the heart of the Chianti Classico: a vacation in an enchanting agriturismo

Monia Piccini, the owner of the "Azienda Agricola Il Palagio di Panzano", inherited the family vineyard in the middle of the Conca d'Oro, in the heart of Chianti Classico, from her father. Today, she and her husband Franco run the winery and the agriturismo with its enchanting rooms and apartments furnished with loving attention to detail. Carefully restored furniture can be found throughout the rooms, which Franco, who is actually a trained restorer, has given a new lease of life. In the medieval estate, which was built around the year 1000, the Piccini family welcomes numerous guests from all over the world year after year. And when, after a refreshing dip in the pool, you let your gaze wander over the "Golden Valley" - the Conca d'Oro - from a lounger, you can imagine why the wines from Panzano taste so delicious. And then it's best to toast your successful vacation with a glass of red wine!
