Tregole Il Chicchero Bianco Toscano IGT

A Blanc de Noir from Sangiovese – fresh, fruity and special

Il Chicchero is perhaps Sophie's most creative wine: a very light rosé-colored white wine made from Sangiovese grapes. The harvest takes place three weeks before the regular harvest, when the berries contain less pigment. After destemming, the grapes are lightly crushed and placed in steel tanks. Sophie controls the flow of juice, stopping it as soon as the desired light color is achieved.
Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, just like a white wine. The wine is bottled early and usually released in the first months of the following year. Il Chicchero exhibits aromas of pear, melon, and white flowers with citrus notes. The typical structure of Sangiovese is retained, yet it appears fresh and light. An ideal aperitif wine or accompaniment to light dishes.

Variable production depending on the vintage

Il Chicchero's production volume varies greatly—depending on the color development, between 400 and 600 liters are produced. Sophie makes this wine because her mother Edith prefers white wines. The name comes from the Sienese dialect and means "wow factor"—a reference to a local card game.
The early harvest and controlled fermentation make Il Chicchero a technically demanding wine. Sophie draws on her marketing experience to create a product that surprises and delights. The small production volume makes each vintage a rarity.

Innovation from tradition

Although Tregole is known for classic Chianti Classico wines, Il Chicchero Sophie showcases its innovative side. The idea of making an almost white wine from the red Sangiovese grape isn't often found here in Chianti Classico. The method requires perfect timing and a great deal of sensitivity.
Like all Tregole wines, Chianti Classico , Chianti Classico Riserva , and Chianti Classico Gran Selezione , Il Chicchero is organically farmed. The high altitude of the vineyards contributes to its freshness and elegance. The distinctive label with the stylized manor house makes this wine immediately recognizable as a Tregole product.

Family business with personality

Il Chicchero embodies the family-run character of Tregole. Sophie produces it in honor of her mother—a personal touch that distinguishes the winery. The collaboration between Sophie and Edith shapes not only the wine production but also the agriturismo.
Guests can experience this intimate atmosphere firsthand. Edith cooks for guests upon request or offers cooking classes. The combination of wine, hospitality, and the spectacular location makes Tregole a special place. Il Chicchero is the perfect welcome wine—fresh, uncomplicated, and full of surprises.
