Tregole Chianti Classico DOCG

100% organic Sangiovese – fresh, elegant and balanced

Sophie Conte has been producing her Chianti Classico since 2015 at an altitude of 520 to 600 meters—a considerable altitude even for Chianti Classico. The Sangiovese grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed so gently that the berries remain largely intact. The whole berries ferment in cement tanks, undergoing both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation. This gentle method preserves the fruit aromas and ensures soft tannins. After a gentle pressing of the skins, the wine ages for another year in the cement tank.
The Chianti Classico displays aromas of cherries and dark berries with an elegant acidity and tannin structure. A drinkable wine that pairs well with many dishes.

Tregole: Organic viticulture on 5 hectares

The Tregole winery is located near Castellina in Chianti, where three valleys meet – hence the name. Sophie Conte has run the estate together with her mother Edith since 2015. Only 5 hectares of vineyards are planted exclusively with Sangiovese. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 520 to 600 meters on soils composed of Macigno sandstone, calcareous Alberese, and Formazione Silano.
The vines vary in age: the oldest vineyard was planted in 1972, the youngest in 2019 by Sophie herself. This age range brings complexity to the wines. Sophie, originally from marketing, consciously opted for minimal intervention in winemaking.

Natural winemaking in cement tanks

Winemaking takes place primarily in cement tanks, with some steel tanks also being used. The aging cellar contains tonneaux and large 2,000-liter wooden barrels. Sophie ferments the grapes whole, which softens the tannins—an advantage given the altitude.
The winery produces four wines: Chianti Classico, Chianti Classico Riserva , Chianti Classico Gran Selezione , and the Sangiovese white wine Il Chicchero . The labels feature the stylized shape of the estate house with its 16th-century chapel. The color of the image changes depending on the wine.

Agriturismo with a view

Tregole offers not only wine, but also stylish accommodations in several apartments. The historic property, with its striking chapel, has been lovingly restored. A pool with panoramic views over the Three Valleys invites you to relax.
Edith Conte, originally from South Tyrol, cooks for guests upon request and offers cooking classes. Castellina in Chianti is just a few minutes away, Florence is about 45 minutes away, and Siena is less than 30 minutes away by car. The combination of wine production and agriturismo makes Tregole an authentic Tuscan experience.
