Aluigi Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG/Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG from Le Cinciole

Classified as Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG from the 2016 vintage onwards

A powerful "Panzanese" made from Sangiovese

At Le Cinciole, Valeria and Luca Orsini produce authentic wines full of character with rough edges that are anything but mainstream. And this description certainly fits the Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG. This red wine was added to the range for the first time with the 2012 vintage. Aluigi is a true "Panzanese", as it is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, the autochthonous grape variety of Tuscany par excellence. The carefully selected grapes are vinified in cement tanks at a controlled temperature for around four weeks. Malolactic fermentation then takes place - also in cement tanks. The wine is then matured for 24 months in 5,000 liter French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is aged for at least another six months. And then you can look forward to an ideal accompaniment to a good piece of meat - a nice steak, for example. With intense sour cherry, plenty of power and hearty tannins on the palate. So: cheers and enjoy your meal!

The wine range with the unmistakable terroir of Panzano

In addition to the "star of Tuscany" - the Sangiovese grape - international grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah also grow on the slopes of Le Cinciole, albeit to a much lesser extent. The lion's share of Valeria and Luca's grapes is undoubtedly the autochthonous Sangiovese. In addition to the palatable Le Cinciole Chianti Classico DOCG, the powerful Aluigi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG and the Petresco Toscana IGT, the top wine from Le Cinciole, are also made entirely from Sangiovese. The Rosato Toscana IGT at Le Cinciole is also made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. International grapes are used for two of Le Cinciole's six wines: the mighty Camalaione is a cuvée of 70 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 15 percent Syrah and 15 percent Merlot. The grapes for this come from the estate's oldest vines. For the "little brother" of the big Camalaione, the Cinciorosso, grapes from young vineyards are used: 70 percent Sangiovese, 15 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 percent Syrah and 5 percent Merlot are vinified for the Cinciorosso. But what all Le Cinciole wines have in common - whether international or not - is the unmistakable terroir of Panzano in Chianti. You can taste and feel this with every sip of Podere Le Cinciole.

Podere Le Cinciole: a typical Tuscan winery in harmony with nature

Living in harmony with nature and creating a cycle with the environment is both a challenge and a way of life. And it is precisely this challenge that the owners of Le Cinciole have been facing since the early 1990s, when they took over the winery. Although the two were absolute career changers as winegrowers, they very quickly realized how important it was to switch to organic farming. Valeria and Luca see organic farming as a cycle. In other words, what is on Le Cinciole stays on Le Cinciole - with the exception of the wines and oils, of course, which are sold. The organic residue is recycled on the large compost heap and then fed back into the larger cycle. The electricity needed at Le Cinciole - for work in the vineyard, for the guests or in the wine cellar - is self-generated. This is done using solar panels that follow the path of the sun. This means that pesticides are absolutely taboo - roses act as a "mildew early warning system" and herbs, cereals and flowers between the rows of vines ensure an ecological balance in the vineyard. Le Cinciole has been certified organic since 2002.

Dream vacation in Tuscany with the organic plus

Over the past 20 years, Valeria and Luca Orsini have succeeded in building up an exemplary winery in the heart of what is probably the most famous wine region in the world - Chianti Classico. Le Cinciole also has what most wineries have today: an agriturismo where you can spend your vacation. Two apartments await Tuscany lovers at the Le Cinciole winery. The two apartments with the evocative names Ginestra and Corbezzolo are lovingly furnished and can accommodate four people each. Here you can spend your vacation in the midst of organically cultivated vineyards - even the electricity for the apartment comes from its own solar power system - and the view from the window sweeps over the medieval houses and towers of Panzano in Chianti. And by the pool: vineyards and forests as far as the eye can see. What's more, the most beautiful excursion destinations in Tuscany - Castellina, Siena and Florence - are just a few kilometers away. The perfect setting for a perfect vacation!
