Olio Extra Vergine d'Oliva: a cold-pressed delight

The Fattoria e Villa di Rignana is located in Panzano in Chianti, not far from Greve in Chianti, almost exactly halfway between Florence and Siena. Traditional and excellent wines are grown here on an area of around 14 hectares - and more than 1,000 olive trees of the Frantoio, Moraiolo and Correggiolo varieties grow on an area of around 5.5 hectares. Of course, these areas are also cultivated organically, just like the vineyards. The olives are harvested by hand and meticulous care is taken to process the harvested olives quickly and gently. Cold pressing and natural filtration produce a high-quality extra virgin olive oil - an Olio Extra Vergine d'Oliva. Fresh and green in aroma, spicy but not too strong in taste - pure Tuscany!

Fattoria e Villa di Rignana: a winery with a history

Fattoria e Villa di Rignana is located in the heart of Chianti, just a few kilometers from the center of the small village of Panzano on the edge of the "Golden Valley". The idyllic estate can be reached via a gravel road that leads through the gently rolling countryside and vineyards. Wine lovers and those who want to become one will be spoiled here with different types of wine: with a fruity Chianti Classico, which is made from 85% Sangiovese grapes and 15% Canaiolo grapes. With an expressive Chianti Classico Riserva - a cuvée of Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc. With an elegant Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, made from the finest Sangiovese grapes from the Fattoria di Rignana. The Super Tuscan "Il Riccio", a 100% Merlot, completes the range of red wines. The fruity, fresh Rosato and the fragrant white wine Bianco complete the range of wines at Rignana. And of course not to be forgotten: The extra virgin olive oil, which is an integral part of every meal in Tuscany!

The organic wine region around Panzano in Chianti

Here, in the Chianti Classico wine region, located between Florence and Siena, wines with a lot of character, great depth and a great deal of typicity are grown. As with most winegrowers in Panzano in Chianti, Cosimo Gericke, the owner of Rignana, cultivates his vineyards exclusively using sustainable organic methods. Chemical fertilizers and sprays have not been used on his 14 hectares of vineyards for years, and the Fattoria and Villa di Rignana has also been officially certified as an organic farm since 2014. Magnificent vines and a literally flourishing flora and fauna are the result of this - and, of course, ultimately excellent wines. At an altitude of 350 to 500 meters above sea level, the autochthonous varieties Sangiovese and Canaiolo as well as the international grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc grow and thrive. The soils are stony, chalky and clayey. The perfect conditions for high-quality organic wines from the Chianti Classico DOCG appellation - awarded the "Gallo Nero", the "Black Rooster".

Rignana not only produces sensationally good wine and excellent olive oil, but is also a wonderful place to spend your vacation or celebrate a wedding: for example, there are two large apartments with spacious living rooms and fully equipped kitchens as well as elegant and stylishly furnished bedrooms. You can also book individual double rooms with breakfast in the B&B or one of the apartments in the villa with two to four bedrooms. Or perhaps the whole villa for 16 people?
