Wonderfully white & light as a summer breeze

With the 2018 vintage, there is something absolutely new at Rignana: a white wine called "Bianco Toscana"! Even the first glance at the bottle and its contents promise lightness and freshness. The wine is almost transparent white. This is all the more surprising given that the Bianco is made from red wine grapes: namely one hundred percent Sangiovese! A special production process makes this possible. Well chilled in the glass, the nose and palate can enjoy a pleasant fruity freshness, the full flavor of juicy pears, a hint of flowers and a delicate hint of nutty aromas and citrus fruits. Rignana's Bianco is very versatile: whether as an "aperitivo" on a warm summer evening with friends or with a light meal. It's best to always have one or two bottles in the fridge "just in case" - friends might drop by unexpectedly. It could suddenly be a beautiful summer evening. Or there could simply be some other occasion for which a Bianco would be perfect. So actually always...

The Fattoria di Rignana: a very special spot on earth

In the heart of Chianti, just a few minutes' drive from the center of Panzano in Chianti, you reach the Fattoria di Rignana at the end of a winding gravel road. At this winery, owner Cosimo Gericke and his team have been producing exclusively certified organic wines from their own grapes since the 2014 vintage. Most of the grapes grown in the hills of Rignana are the autochthonous flagship variety of Tuscany, the Sangiovese grape. Cosimo also grows other indigenous and international varieties: Canaiolo, Merlot and, more recently, Cabernet Franc. There are also over 1,000 olive trees on the estate - and lots of flowers, butterflies, fireflies and crickets in between, because they also feel most at home with "organic".

Red, white, rosé - it's all here at Rignana

Rignana produces a wide variety of wines from the fully ripened grapes: from Chianti Classico to Chianti Classico Riserva and, since 2013, a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione. Not quite as long in the range, but all the better for it: the fruity, fresh Rignana Rosato. The wine range also includes a single-varietal Merlot - a Super Tuscan - with the melodious name "Il Riccio". Cosimo Gericke's latest wine creation is the "Bianco Toscana", a white wine made from red Sangiovese grapes. This product range is rounded off with a strong, spicy extra virgin olive oil.

The Rignana winery is located on the outskirts of Panzano, a town of 2,000 inhabitants, halfway between Florence and Siena and therefore right in the heart of Tuscany.
