Story about Fontodi Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva find out?

Olio extra vergine di oliva Chianti Classico DOP from Fontodi

100% organic, 100% taste!

Olive oil is an integral part of Tuscan cuisine - and olive trees are an integral part of the Tuscan landscape. In addition to all the top wines that are pressed at Tenuta Fontodi, an excellent extra virgin olive oil Chianti Classico DOP is also produced here. Around 400 trees of the Correggiolo and Moraiolo varieties grow on one hectare of land at Tenuta Fontodi. When the olives are ripe, they are harvested by hand with great care and pressed on the same day so that the freshness and fruitiness are retained in the olio. The Fontodi olive oil consists of 80 percent Correggiolo olives and 20 percent Moraiolo olives. From the very beginning, Fontodi has avoided the use of pesticides - today the winery is a certified organic farm. And so, of course, the olive oil is also fully organic - and you can taste it!

Tenuta Fontodi: almost 80 hectares of wine paradise in Panzano in Chianti

There is no doubt that the Fontodi winery, which is enthroned on a solitary hill just outside Panzano, is one of the flagships of Chianti Classico. Since the Manetti family acquired the estate in 1968, it has been completely renovated, modernized and expanded. The brothers Giovanni and Marco Manetti, both still very young at the time, experimented with different grape varieties and then decided to grow a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside the Sangiovese grape variety. They engaged the famous Franco Bernabei as their oenologist. Herbicides and pesticides were avoided right from the start - Fontodi is a certified organic farm. If you look at Fontodi's vineyards, you can see that they open up to the south like a huge amphitheater in the Conca d'Oro, the golden valley of Panzano in Chianti. This shape provides extremely favorable climatic conditions - sunny during the day and cool at night - for the sensitive Sangiovese grape to ripen optimally. They are ideally ventilated and drained. All of this is the ideal starting point for perfect wines. Today, Giovanni Manetti runs the almost 80-hectare vineyard alone, while his brother looks after the family terracotta business.

Flaccianello & Co.: wines with big names and great taste

Wine lovers from all over the world know the name Flacianello - or as it should more correctly be called: Flaccianello della Pieve Colli Toscana Centrale IGT with its unmistakable Etruscan cross on the label. This one hundred percent Sangiovese has been voted one of the top 10 wines in the world several times. In terms of quantity, Chianti Classico naturally plays the main role in Fontodi's range alongside Flaccianello. It is, if you like, the "little" brother of Flaccianello - because it is also one hundred percent Sangiovese. Fontodi's Vigna del Sorbo has been classified as a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione since the 2010 vintage. The grapes for this come from a single vineyard and since the 2012 vintage, the Vigna del Sorbo has also been made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes. Another red in the Fontodi range is the Syrah Case Via, which consists of pure international varieties. Despite the international varieties, the terroir of Panzano in Chianti is perfectly expressed. One of the rare white wines from the Chianti Classico is the Meriggio, which is made from 100% Sauvignon blanc - to the chagrin of all white wine drinkers, only in very small quantities.

A must for all wine and Tuscany lovers: a vacation at Fontodi!

The absolute must for all wine lovers - or rather for lovers of Chianti Classico - is a visit to the Fontodi winery. It is best to book a guided tour of the winery in advance. In any case, the wine cellar and wines are spectacular! And if you like it here so much that you want to stay longer, simply take a vacation in one of the three vacation homes that belong to Fontodi: Giovanna, Giovanni Manetti's sister, runs the three agriturismo businesses. On the one hand, there is Villa Pecille with a total of five apartments of different sizes directly in Panzano in Chianti. The house is surrounded by a beautiful, blooming and fragrant garden in the middle of the vineyards. From the pool you can enjoy an indescribable view over the Conca d'Oro. Agriturismo La Rota, with its three lovingly furnished apartments and pool in the heart of the valley, is also perfect for a Tuscan vacation for explorers and connoisseurs. Villa I Canonici completes the Tuscan trio for the perfect dream vacation. These are two elegant and comfortable country houses surrounded by a typical Mediterranean garden.
