It is believed that mustard was first produced in distant India as early as 3,000 BC and later exported from there to the West. The ancient Romans also knew and valued mustard not only for preparing many dishes, but also as a remedy. And Dario's mustard is also a true remedy in the culinary sense: the recipe for it originally came from the Danish great-grandmother of Dario's wife Kim. She herself grew up in America and brought the secret recipe with her to Tuscany. This much can be said: this Danish-American-Italian golden yellow delicacy goes with almost everything - grilled meat, burgers and ham, of course... But also with smoked fish and cheese - whether with Pecorino Toscano or Tyrolean mountain cheese - this mustard is always a "perfect match"! By the way: Senape is available in 50 gram, 290 gram or 420 gram jars. The simple rule for this mustard is: the more, the better!

Antica Macelleria Cecchini in Panzano in Chianti: three food concepts and countless delights!

The Antica Macelleria Cecchini is located in the village of Panzano in Chianti - not far from the piazza. Its owner, Dario Cecchini, has made a name for himself all over the world as a meat specialist. However, he is not only a macellaio - or butcher - but also knows how to conjure up excellent dishes from this meat, as he proves in the "Macelleria con Cucina" - the butcher's shop with kitchen - with his three food concepts. Dario opened his first restaurant concept, Solociccia, more than ten years ago. Solociccia means "meat only" - and that is exactly what was served then and is still served today: Meat. A short time later, Dario opened the Officina della Bistecca one floor above the Macelleria. The idea behind it was to serve bistecca alla Fiorentina and variations of it freshly prepared on the charcoal grill. Originally only intended for a maximum of 20 people, the concept was a complete success and Dario expanded it shortly afterwards. Then a third meaty restaurant variation was added: the Dario Doc concept. This is a freshly grilled burger without bread, but with lots of fresh side dishes as well as the excellent homemade mustard and spicy paprika sauce. With the exception of the Dario Doc, the following applies at Dario: you pay a fixed price, then it's "eat as much as you can" and wine, schnapps and coffee are included. If you wish, you can also bring your own wine and enjoy it with your meal - at no extra charge. If you are in Panzano or nearby, you should definitely pay Dario a visit - it's definitely worth it!
